We are the Oregon Southwest Idaho Region. We are filled with forests and farmland, mountains and lakes, ocean and desert. We are tied together by many rivers that flow and connect us. From Cannon Beach to Crater Lake to Mount Hood and the Three Sisters to Silver Falls to the High Desert and the Fossil Beds to the Sawtooth Mountains to Hells Canyon to the Painted Hills we are surrounded by God’s splendor and God’s grace.
We are Oregon Southwest Idaho. We are 43 congregations of which 6 are in formation. We come from many beautiful cultures and speak Chuukese, Spanish, and English. We are house churches, small churches, large churches, and churches without buildings. We have full-time pastors, part-time pastors, bi-vocational pastors, co-pastors, chaplains, and lay pastors.
We are Oregon Southwest Idaho, and yet we are so much more. We are more than Portland or Boise. We are rural and urban. We are small towns and big cities. We are youth, elders, and those between. We are migrants, transplants, and those with long history in this place. We are hunters, fishers, and explorers. We are politically diverse: liberals, moderates, and conservatives. We are Ducks, Beavers, Broncos, Yotes, and more. We are veterans and pacifists. We are loggers and tree huggers. We are farmers and technologists. We are white-collar people and blue-collar people.
Anything and everyone is here.
In our diversity we strive to know each other as God knows us. We long for even deeper connection with each other and our Creator. We don’t always agree, but we strive to be that movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. We strive to be kind and to love one another. And yet we recognize we still have so much work to do. We are still discovering who we are, and the new places and ways to which God is calling us. We seek to be people of Christ’s table working to worship, to serve, to love, and to care in our unique and beautiful ways. We are Oregon Southwest Idaho!
We seek a Regional Minister who…
- Embodies a deep faith in Jesus Christ, with a heart of compassion and grace.
- Lives into deep accompaniment, joyful vulnerability, and sacred presence with diverse communities.
- Cares for, supports, empowers, equips, and inspires leaders.
- Leads with the ability to delegate, recognizing the gifts in each of us and discerning opportunities for others to serve in regional ministry.
- Serves driven by a fierce passion for connecting and uniting people with each other and in our faith, as Christ’s beloved community.
- Celebrates and tells our stories of how gifts and resources are being lived out.
We are Oregon Southwest Idaho. Our stories, like the rivers that flow through our region connecting us, build relationships that tie us together within all our diversity and differences. Reaching a bend in our river, we are excited for you to join us, and to discover the new terrain God is calling us into together.
As we embark on this new chapter in the life of our region, we are filled with anticipation and excitement. We look forward to merging our individual stories with the grand narrative that God is leading us into together. Together, we will navigate new terrains, deepen our connections, and continue our mission of worship, service, love, and care.
