Introduction
The Christian Church in Oregon and Southwest Idaho is a ministry shared by 43 congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) located in Oregon and Southwest Idaho. Congregations are as new as 1 year old and as long standing as 178 years, and reflect a variety of sizes and pastoral leadership. Our churches are in big cities, small towns and rural crossroads.
Multi-cultural
Since our early days, Christian Church ministry in our region has been multi-cultural, beginning with the ministry of Dr. Jeu Hawk in 1892 with Asian-Americans in Portland. Today, congregations in our region reflect a variety of ethnic heritages and worship in three languages: Chuukese, Spanish, and English.
History
The Christian Church in Oregon was founded in 1846, and the Christian Church in South Idaho in 1846 as pioneer families migrated west. These two regions joined together in 2014 to share ministry.
We are currently in a search for our next Regional Minister.
